DIVERSITY, INCLUSION & EQUALITY

Championing Inclusion and Diversity in Ashford:

Sam Griffin is a passionate advocate for inclusion and diversity in Ashford, dedicated to making the community a welcoming place for all. With a background in education and Special Educational Needs (SEN), Sam has spent years working to break down barriers and create opportunities for individuals from all walks of life. A key part of Sam’s advocacy work is focused on supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and adults with learning and physical disabilities.

As the co-founder of Pride Ashford, Sam has played an instrumental role in organising events that celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community, ensuring that Ashford becomes a place where all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can express themselves freely and without fear of discrimination. Sam’s commitment to LGBTQIA+ rights goes hand in hand with a broader mission to foster inclusivity, educate the public, and create spaces where everyone can belong.

In addition to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, Sam is the founder of Unite Ashford, a initiative that hosts monthly nightclub events for adults with learning and communication difficulties. This unique event provides a safe, fun, and accessible environment where individuals can socialise, connect, and enjoy an experience that might otherwise be out of reach. Through Unite Ashford, Sam ensures that adults with learning and physical disabilities have opportunities for social engagement, a vital aspect of their well-being.

Sam also works as a core member of Womxn Up Ashford a local initiative that promotes equality, safety, and the celebration of women through community events and activities. It harnesses a sense of togetherness through powerful events, promoting female lead businesses and the struggles women still face in today's society.

Sam’s work is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. Through her tireless advocacy and work in the community, Sam continues to make a profound impact, helping to create an Ashford that is more inclusive, supportive, and diverse for all.
